As we continue to practice social-distancing and self-quarantine, I thought I would share just a few fun and unique activities that are happening in the virtual world! I love how people with specific skills and platforms are offering their craft to the world in order to help us all get through this self-quarantine.
Dude Perfect Quarantine Classic:
Every night this week, these guys are live streaming some sort of sporting event. We’ve been fans of them for awhile, and it’s been fun to sit down at 7:00pm every night and watch them be silly on TV. Such a fun family activity!
Andrew Peterson Live Reading:
Andrew Peterson’s Wingfeather Saga series has been a favorite of our family’s for awhile. They truly are a great read, even if you aren’t a huge fan of fantasy. Starting Friday, March 20th, and going until he finishes, he will be doing a live FB reading of Book 1 of the series.
Christian Music Artists Live on Instagram:
I first found Ellie Holcomb through her amazing children’s books and soundtracks, but her and her husband are fantastic musicians as well and will be releasing a new cover song every night on her Instagram page.
Online library:
Now that the libraries are shut down, you might want to check out this free app so you can still check out what you need!
Kid appropriate and fun documentaries on Netflix:
Lest we think we won’t need to utilize screen time at some point in this process! Here are some great documentaries that you can feel good about putting your kids in front of for a bit.
Christian Streaming Service:
But if you’re looking more for a streaming service that offers more family friendly movies and shows and not necessarily just documentaries, here’s a great option that is pretty affordable! You can try it for a week for free.
Bible Study Resources:
If you’re looking for all the Christian cartoons, kids Bible studies, adult Bible studies, videos of your favorite conference, or anything else that could point you to God, try this resource! Many churches have a subscription to this resource and can give it to you for free as well, so reach out to your church and see if that’s an option.
Weekly Bible Study for Kids:
If you want to incorporate a once a week Bible study into your schedule, here is a free one with the lesson plan and all details clearly mapped out for you!
Let Music set the Tone:
At some point throughout this self-quarantine, the environment in your home may feel stressed or overwhelming. On the days when the bickering gets too much or you’re feeling overwhelmed, try streaming the music from this group. It’s an easy way for Scripture to wash over your house and change the environment.
And just for fun:
If you are just plain tired and want someone else to step in at night for a bit, Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf) is reading children’s books every night on twitter. (#gadbookclub). Here is link to his twitter page by clicking here
If you have more suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments! Together we will get through this, and, I truly believe, our families and priorities will be better because of this. Praying for each of you!
