Do you ever have trouble believing God is better?
Better than the TV show you love. Better than a game on your phone. Better than an extra slice of cake. Better than the satisfaction that comes after giving someone a piece of your mind. Better than isolating yourself from the hurt that can come from others. Better than sleeping in or staying up late. Better than being a part of the crowd.
Saying God is better is one thing. But living that way is completely different.

Because I say it all the time. Of course, God is always better than anything I could ever ask or imagine. Of course, following God is my heart’s desire. But the details of my life don’t always demonstrate I actually believe it enough to allow that statement to change my daily decisions.
The details show I like my phone a whole lot, my latest Netflix addiction gets a good majority of time, yelling is acceptable if it gets the desired results, and stillness and solitude aren’t really feasible in my schedule. None of those details point to God or what He desires of me.
They all point to my preferences and my personal desires.
Believing is just the first step. Allowing that belief to truly change how you plan and react to life is the harder step.
Believing is the easy part. Walking out that believing takes work. Work that requires sacrifice of personal desires, humility before God, and continual time in His Word so He can show you where your beliefs and your life aren’t matching up.
As Spring creeps upon us, I’m not going to just be Spring Cleaning the house. I’m also going to be Spring Cleaning my life and allowing God to reveal those areas where I’m not living out what I state I believe.
What are you currently stating about God that you need to start living out with your choices?
