Believe it or not, how we view creation dictates much of how we view God. And not just the Sunday school beliefs about creation. I’m talking about truly digging deep and seeing a creator God in all aspects of life.
Understanding creation is vital for our spiritual life.
For example, understanding God alone created everything makes it much easier to submit to his authority, trust his plan, and look to him for guidance.
If he didn’t create everything, statements like “every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord” seem prideful. God becomes an egotistical figure-head who simply wants glory for himself. We won’t readily trust a God we think is egotistical.
And while we’ve heard God is the creator, seeing how this belief plays out in life is extremely important. We need to evaluate this belief statement, and see if we can say with confidence we believe God alone created.
We need to look deeper at passages such as:
Psalm 33:6-9 which states “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.… For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood forth.”
or
John 1:3: “ALL THINGS were made through him and without him was not anything made that was made“
or
Col. 1:16 “For in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities—all things were created through him and for him”
Once we analyze how our view of creation plays out in our daily life, we begin to understand why God alone should be worshiped.
